VSB Catchment Review

“Thank you, Annerieke and Sarah for running such inclusive and thoughtful meetings. Our parent partners are being well-served by this inevitably contentious process, and you and the team have done an exemplary job of addressing the myriad of concerns.”

- Kelly Egilsson, Vice Principal, Magee Secondary School

With new high-density developments going up in Vancouver along Southeast False Creek in the Olympic Village area and along the Canada Line (SkyTrain), the city has seen several development hotspots that have been creating enrolment pressures on certain school catchments while other catchments have seen a decline in students. With the goal to alleviate pressure on these school catchments, studioHuB architects assisted the VSB Planning Department in the facilitation of a series of workshops with staff, administrators, CUPE members and students to determine potential school catchment boundary changes.

Following these workshops, studioHuB architects translated the proposed changes to boards and facilitated a number of public open houses throughout the city speaking with the general public, parents and PACs. Completed 2018.
