VSB Reconciliation Poles

“The VSB is beginning a Legacy Carving project, in honour of Reconciliation in Education. Over the coming months, a Reconciliation pole will be carved on-site by two Squamish carvers, James and Rick Harry.  In addition, two Welcome figures are carved by two Musqueam carvers, Chrystal Sparrow and William Dan.”

The Legacy Carving project includes three Indigenous Art Poles installed on the Vancouver School Board No. 39 property. There is a 40ft Reconciliation pole and two 20ft Welcome figures.

studioHuB architects was the Prime Consultant for the Legacy Carving project. Due to the significance of the project, the location of the Indigenous Art Poles was critical. Working directly with members of the Aboriginal community, structural and geotechnical consultants, the poles will be placed along the corner of Fir and W 10th Ave. The poles welcome all visitors and help strengthen the identity of VSB in the community. studioHuB architects worked closely with the City of Vancouver in approving a fast-tract permit process. Completed 2019.
