Squamish Municipal Needs Assessment

In 2019, as part of the larger Strategic real Estate master plan, studioHuB architects were retained by the District of Squamish to do a facility review and provide recommendations for a number of municipal facilities, including: two firehalls, library, municipal hall, dog pound, municipal work yard, and Parks department field house and offices. In addition to reviewing existing facilities, our studio was also asked to review opportunities for new facilities, including a multi modal transportation hub and a bus depot. Completed 2019.

The scope included:

  • A review of the existing facilities, including: review of physical state of the building, code review, and accessibility review;

  • Interviews with all managers regarding current operational needs and future anticipated operational needs;

  • Site test fits for both existing and potential new site locations;

  • Working with a QS to provide a Class D estimate for all renovation and replacement options;

  • Providing a matrix to determine priorities for sequencing future capital projects.
