Nemesis Coffee

Located in the SFU Charles Chang Innovation Centre, Nemesis Coffee is a 1,400 sq. ft. café in Vancouver’s Gastown neighbourhood. The design reflects the character of both the café and its urban context through a restrained palette of simple, authentic materials.

White oak, steel, glass, and concrete define the space. A herringbone wood bar serves as the focal point of the café, while playful geometric floor tiles in the washrooms complement the exposed concrete floor. Linear light fixtures create a sense of movement throughout the interior, and a wood slat ceiling helps unify the L-shaped space.

The café was nominated by Sprudge for Best New Café in 2017, alongside projects from the United States, South Korea, Ireland, and New Zealand.

Completed in 2017.
